THE AMAZING SPIDERMAN 2 Had Strictly Good Week One
Hollywood film are dominating Indian box office in big way and May 2014 might see the highest ever box office business in India with three back to back big releases lined up. ”The Amazing Spiderman 2” was biggest of all and was released with huge expectations but film failed to meet the expectations.
Film collected close to 30 cr nett over weekend and that was only strictly good total considering 4 days extended weekend and release size. Film was not expected to hold too good on Monday going by the trend and that is what happened. Film collected 3 cr nett on Monday which was more than 55%-60% drop. Film further dropped by 7% on Tuesday and collected 2.80 cr nett. Film added 2.45 cr nett on Wednesday and 2.25 cr nett on Thursday.
Film has collected 40.50 cr nett in 7 days and now film will collect lower than 50 cr nett lifetime considering 8-9 releases this weekend. Anything less than 60 cr nett will be a disappointment as last franchise collected 50 cr nett couple of years back.
Film has collected $ 420 million worldwide over week one and $ 102 million in North America over weekend. Film is not huge hit in domestic market either and its overseas kitty is getting bigger and domestic kitty is shrinking. This might be an affect of too many films from franchise and remember two more in pipelines!
