Revolver Rani Music Review: Revolver Rani album Hai Mastaani
Genre: Comedy Drama
Director: Sai Kabir
Cast: Kangna Ranaut & Vir Das
Music Director: Sanjeev Srivastava
Lyricists: Punnet Sharma & Shaheen Iqbal
Expectations: With her last few films doing remarkably well, Kangna Ranaut is growing in stature with each passing day and so are the expectations from her upcoming films. Revolver Rani is one such film which is keenly awaited mainly for Kangna Ranaut’s unconventional looks n persona. The theatrical trailer of the film has already done the trick so to say that there are reasonable expectations from the film is to only state the obvious. However, as far as the music album of the film is concerned, the expectations are minimal mainly due to relatively unknown names in the music section and the film’s genre. All said and done, a good music will on
ly help the film’s cause and we would be glad to be pleasantly surprised if the album turns out to be good.
Truth: To begin with, the album boasts of a whopping 15 tracks which is like getting double than what one would have expected. Sanjeev Srivastava, the music director seems to have given it all that he had in the store. However, you would be pleasantly surprised with what the album has to offer. It is much more than just a decent album. In fact, the album has all the ingredients of success and one couldn’t have asked for a better for this particular film. The lyrics are quirky and humorous and most importantly goes well with the tunes and the needs of the film. All in all, a pretty good album which should definitely work for the film.
Top Picks:
Revolver Rani: Well, the title track of the film is full on entertainment- be it the quirky lyrics, punchy tune and singing, everything is just perfect here. Usha Uthup as always delivers the goods quite comfortably. One thing that particularly stands out is the lyrics which successfully convey the story of Revolver Rani, the central character of the film. Those random dialogue in the background only adds to the fun and excitement. The music instantly takes you to the 70s which itself is a mini victory for Sanjeev Srivastava, the music director. Good start !
Kaafi Nahi Chaand: A sweet and hummable romantic retro number sung exceptionally by Asha Bhosle, who is back in the business after quite a long time. The lyrics and tune are exactly what one would have asked and hoped for. Listening to Asha Bhosle here makes one wonder why she doesn’t sing more often these days as by no means she seems out of place. In fact, it is her melodious singing that does the trick here making a must hear number. Nice !
Saawan Ki Aye Hawa: Another melodious number this time by the newcomer Garima Aneja who seems to possess a really good voice. Giving her company behind the mics is a not-so-famous singer with an extremely famous name – Rahul Gandhi (no pun intended). The lyricists once again have done a commendable job by coming up with some sweet and sensible lyrics. The tune is just apt and successfully serves it purpose. Listen to this track for Garima Aneja’s beautiful singing.
Thaayein Kare Katta: Piyush Mishra is a multi-faceted personality who can act well, sing, compose and even direct a film. Here he does a wonderful job as a singer in this catchy and fun-filled number. The track is very much like the ones we had in Gangs Of Waaeypur and is quite enjoyable. The lyrics which goes like “Maut ka yahaan jabar strike rate hai, Giddh aur cheel sabhi over-weight hai,” simply win you over. Hats off Puneet Sharma !

Hard Talk: Well, although it’s a reasonably good album, one just gets a feeling that 15 tracks are quite too many for a single film particularly if the film isn’t a music oriented one. There are a couple of songs in the album which are simply avoidable. Furthermore, the album wouldn’t appeal much to the gen-next listeners due to its genre and retro feel. However, there is no denying the fact that this particular album ought to be enjoyed for its uniqueness and originality.
Final Verdict: To sum up, the soundtrack of Revolver Rani is one of a kind- very much original and unpolished (in a good way though). Sanjeev Srivastava along with lyricists Puneet Sharma and Shaheen Iqbal has successfully delivered a more than handy retro album which is gonna help the film’s cause immensely. Judging from the music album, it won’t be wrong to say that “Revolver Rani Hai Mastaani”.
