Sonam is just a different person says Rajkumar Rao
Barely had the appreciation for ‘Kai Po Che’ died down than Rajkumar Rao had another spellbinding turn in the title role of ‘Shahid‘. Having scooped up a National Award for his portrayal, the actor is now winning kudos for his latest release Citylights. Far from resting on his laurels, however, Rajkumar is already focussing on his next film, ‘Dolly Ki Doli’.
A commercial entertainer with plenty of song and dance, DKD is different from anything he has done before, Rajkumar admits. “It’s a fun film and the best part is director Arbaaz Khan, who always keeps the atmosphere on the sets light. It’s not always serious work, he makes sure we have our breaks and its like one big party.”
But what about those insistent rumours of problems with his co-star Sonam Kapoor? “It’s just that she is a different person, Very chatty and fun-loving but I like to keep to myself and focus on work. It takes some time to get used to a new co-actor, nothing more than that,” Rajkumar says.
Has winning the National Award changed his life? “Not really,” says Rajkumar, “although the people around me seem to have changed. People (in the industry) are talking about it more than me. For me, life is the same, just that I’m getting better offers.”
