After introducing a mini variant of the Xperia Z1 smartphone, Sony is now reportedly also working on a mini variant of its flagship Xperia Z2 smartphone. A purported photo of what looks like a brochure for the Xperia Z2 Compact phone has been posted online by PhoneArena. The leaked information suggest that the phone could as well be named as the Xperia A2 in Japan, and give out its specs details.

Sony had earlier this year surprised us all by launching the Xperia Z1 Compact without stripping down most of the key specification of its full-sized variant. So it had a smaller 4.3-inch 720p display but retained a quad-core Snapdragon 800 CPU with 2GB of RAM and a 20.7-megapixel rear camera, which were the key features of the Xperia Z1.

The leaked information of the Xperia Z2 Compact reveals that the phone will don a plastic body and will also come with a 4.3-inch 720p display just like the the Xperia Z1 Compact. However, unlike what was expected this one would be powered by a 2.2GHz Snapdragon 800 quad-core processor with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of native storage, instead of the Snapdragon 801 chipset seen on its bigger variant. The phone will measure 128 × 65 × 9.6mm in dimensions and would come in multiple colors like grey black, white, lavender and orange.

Though the report suggest a June release of the phone in Japan, there is no confirmation of its global launch as yet.
