Motorola has sent out invites for an event in London on May 13 where it is going to announce a new smartphone. The invite doesn’t explicitly say it, but we believe it could launch the Moto E at the event.

The Motorola Moto E is expected to be an entry level smartphone placed below the Moto G, which currently retails for Rs 12,499 for the 8GB version.

The invite reads: Connect more people to the world’s information and each other, and they can do great things. Introducing the next smartphone from Motorola to make these connections happen. Made to last. Priced for all.

suggested that the Moto E would be an entry-level smartphone with lower specs than the Moto G. The device will feature a 4.3-inch display, dual-core processor clocked at 1.2GHz, 1GB of RAM and 4GB of internal storage. It will retain the Moto G’s 5-megapixel primary camera and also have FM Radio, a 1,900mAh battery, dual-SIM card slots, 3G support and run on Android 4.4 KitKat. It will also be only 6.2mm thin.

The phone is said to be available in three different variants – XT1021 (single-SIM), XT1022 (dual-SIM) and XT1025 (dual-SIM with digital TV) – though Indian is likely to get the XT1022 dual-SIM variant. There is no official word about its India launch but sources tell BGR India that it could happen in May itself.

The Moto G has been incredibly successful for Motorola in India with estimates hinting at 250,000 units sold within the first month. Sources tell BGR India that Flipkart continues to sell more than 5,000 units of the device daily, hinting at a run rate of over 150,000 units a month.
